Retained Counselling for Organisations

A confidential, named-clinician pathway for senior staff and high-pressure roles

Some organisations find that standard EAP provision works well for broad access, but uptake can be lower among senior leaders and people in sensitive roles.  A retained counselling arrangement provides a discreet, named clinician with fast access and continuity—so senior staff have a place to think clearly, offload safely, and stabilise before stress becomes absence, conflict, or burnout.

Available: UK-wide online (secure video).  In-person provision available by arrangement.

Next step: Book a short call to discuss fit and capacity.

Who this is for?

This service is typically a good fit for organisations with:

  • Senior leaders carrying sustained decision-load and visibility pressure

  • High-performing teams where stress is “managed privately” until it leaks into sleep, irritability, relationships, or performance

  • Security-sensitive or reputation-sensitive environments where confidentiality is paramount

  • Teams exposed to high emotional load (conflict, high stakes, critical incidents, client escalation)

  • An existing EAP, but a desire for a premium pathway that leaders actually use

What retained counselling provides

A retained arrangement gives your organisation:

  • A named clinician (continuity and trust over time)

  • Defined monthly capacity (predictable access and cost)

  • Clear boundaries and governance (clinical independence, confidentiality protected)

  • Fast access for eligible staff (reducing the “I’ll deal with it later” spiral)

  • Aggregate insights only (themes and utilisation — no identifying information)

This is not “coaching” or performance management.  It’s a confidential therapeutic space designed for pressure, complexity, and sustained responsibility.

Common themes leaders bring

Retained counselling is often used for:

  • Burnout risk, chronic stress, sleep disruption

  • High-functioning anxiety, perfectionism, over-responsibility

  • Decision fatigue, rumination, difficulty switching off

  • Leadership isolation, conflict, scrutiny, organisational politics

  • Relationship strain and emotional shutdown at home

  • Identity/meaning questions: “If I stop performing, what’s left?”

How it works

1) Brief organisational call
We agree on whether the model fits your workforce and how it will sit alongside existing provision.

2) Simple contracting and governance
We confirm eligibility, capacity, safeguarding pathways, and data handling.  I remain clinically independent.

3) Access model
Most organisations use one of these:

  • Leadership pathway: partners/directors/senior leadership only

  • High-risk roles pathway: security-sensitive or critical roles

  • OH/People triage: referrals via a designated internal route (without sharing therapy content)

4) Delivery
Sessions are typically weekly and are confidential.  Where appropriate, we review progress and fit.

5) Reporting (aggregate only)
Monthly or quarterly summary: utilisation, waiting time, broad themes, and prevention recommendations — no identities, no case detail concerns.

Retainer options

Below is a typical structure.  Exact capacity depends on availability and whether on-site provision is included.

Pilot Retainer (90 days)

  • A defined monthly session allocation

  • Priority access for eligible staff

  • One short aggregate review call per month

Standard Retainer (6 months)

  • Larger monthly capacity

  • Optional manager consultation time (general guidance, not case discussion)

  • Quarterly aggregate report

Embedded Clinic (1–2 days per week)

  • Regular clinic presence (virtual or on-site by arrangement)

  • Faster access SLA for eligible staff

  • Optional wellbeing prevention add-ons (through Thoughtify Ltd if required)

Please request pricing and availability via the organisational enquiry call.

Why I’m a good fit for retained work

I specialise in working with people who operate under pressure and responsibility, and who need a discreet space that is not performative or “tick-box”.

My approach is integrative (psychodynamic and humanistic): grounded, relational, and focused on meaningful change rather than quick fixes.

As an NCPS Accredited member, Regisered with the Professional Standards Authority,  I practise to recognised ethical standards and work with appropriate supervision and clinical governance.

FAQ

Do you replace our EAP?
Usually no.  Most organisations maintain their EAP for broad coverage and add my services as a premium pathway for senior staff or in sensitive roles.

How do staff access the service?
Either direct self-referral within agreed eligibility, or referral via OH/People (without sharing therapy content).

Will you tell us who is using it?
By default, aggregate utilisation can be shared, but individual-level data will remain confidential unless individuals consent.

Can you provide in-person sessions?
Yes, by arrangement, depending on location and schedule.

Is this coaching?
No, this is counselling/psychotherapy.  It is clinically governed and boundaried.
